Received my new Nike Flex running shoes the other day. I ordered them after deciding it is time to make a lifestyle change and have fitness be an essential part of it.
My current fitness level is pretty dismal as I have been sedentary for quite sometime now. My weight has crept up and I am easily getting winded when I try to play tennis or basketball with the kids. Not exercising consistently and sitting at a desk at work all day long has definitely taken a toll on my health and fitness over the past few years.
However, that is all about to change.
My plan is to run 45 miles within the first 30 days of my return to physical exercise. In addition to running, a daily stretching routine will be implemented as well.
The target start day is Friday, April 14, 2017.
During this 30 day period, I will be developing a full exercise plan for strength and conditioning. My reason for only stretching and running at first is to reduce the risk of injury when strength training is initiated.
Another benefit of this approach is that it will provide me the time to develop a workout program and schedule thoughtfully, without giving me an excuse to delay getting started.
A new blog series (The First 90) to track and report the progress of my fitness for the first 90 days will also be initiated. Not only will this assist in holding me accountable, but hopefully if will help motivate others to take action in implementing fitness routines into their own lifestyles.
If you indeed are motivated by this series and are currently working out or just have something relative to say, then please feel free to make a comment. I’d love to hear from you and am truly excited about what you might have to say; especially those of cheers and support!
